Vermont’s Raise the Age Law: Data Show Positive Outcomes
After six years of implementation, data and experiences on Vermont’s Raise the Age Law have been consistently positive: reduced recidivism rates, lower juvenile delinquency caseloads, and a successful path to diversion for many of Vermont’s youth.
Emerging Adults in Illinois: Recent Trends and Patterns in Arrests and Prison Sentencing
Loyola’s Center for Criminal Justice (CCJ) was invited to present at the Summer 2024 quarterly meeting of the Illinois Juvenile Justice Leadership Council, on the topic of “emerging adults”—those between 18 and 24—in the Illinois criminal justice system. This research brief summarizes that presentation, which was based on new analyses of Illinois arrest and prison admission data pertaining to emerging and older adults.
